About Thobani :

I am a sports lover with a passion for broadcast journalism. In my journalism career I have been able to impart in print, radio and television. I have an appreciation for South Africa’s diversity, which speaks to the dream of a unity country with one goal of a prosperous Mzansi. I firmly believe that sport really does have the power to change the world, and that it has “the power to unite people in a way that little else does.”And one word to describe me would be, proactive.

Experience and Progression:

My passion for radio came with my enthusiasm in journalism, coupled with my knowledge of the majority of sporting codes. As a student at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), I co-hosted a show called Campus Talk.
I further refined my skills at a community radio station as the Head of News, which also entailed sport presenting.
In 2019 I joined a sports broadcasting network where I worked in commentary and also did pre- and post-match interviews with players.

Accomplishments:

As I started my journalism career, I had the opportunity to interview Bloemfontein Celtics players and Kaizer Chiefs former goalkeeper, Brilliant Khuzwayo.
Journalism has given me many opportunities such as covering three African heads of states at an Intra-African Trade Fair including president Cyril Ramaphosa.
