LOTUS FM BUNNY CHOW COMPETITON RULES 2026
- The competition runs from the 13th of January 2026 and closes on the 31st of January 2026.
- The competition is open to all South African citizens except directors, members, partners, employees, agents, service providers and consultants of the SABC, as well as any SABC employee including agencies, or their spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, sisters, business partners or associates.
- To enter, participants must submit the following via email to competitions@lotusfm.co.za within the competition period:
- Clear photographs of their Ultimate Bunny Chow
- A written recipe including ingredients and method for one serving.
- A short written motivation explaining why their Bunny Chow is the “Best”.
- Entries must be complete, clear, and submitted within the stipulated competition period.
- Incomplete, illegible, or late entries will be deemed invalid.
- No entry fee is required to participate.
- Judging Process
- All valid entries will be evaluated by a selection committee comprising chefs appointed by Lotus FM and Ground Zero Bar & Restaurant.
- The committee will select the Top Five (5) finalists based on creativity, presentation, authenticity, and motivation.
- The Top Five finalists will be invited to participate in a live cook-out event on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at Ground Zero Bar & Restaurant, Hillary, Durban, from 09:00 to 15:00. Lotus FM and Ground Zero Bar & Restaurant will not be responsible for, nor incur any costs related to, finalists’ travel, accommodation, or any other expenses associated with participation in the cook-out event.
- Prizes
- Prizes to the total value of R10,000 are available to be won.
- Ground Zero Bar & Restaurant will be solely responsible for the allocation, distribution, and fulfilment of all prizes.
- Prizes are not transferable, refundable, or exchangeable for cash unless otherwise stated.
- Winner Announcement and Verification
- Winners will be announced during the cook-out event and/or on Lotus FM platforms.
- Winners may be required to present valid identification for verification purposes.
- Media and Publicity:
- By entering the competition, participants consent to the SABC, Lotus FM, and their partners using their names, photographs, video footage, audio recordings, and submitted recipes for promotional, marketing, and broadcast purposes across all media platforms without further remuneration.
- Risk and Liability: Participation in the competition and cook-out event is at the entrant’s own risk. The SABC, Lotus FM, and their partners shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or death arising from participation in the competition or acceptance and use of any prize.
- The SABC and its agents accept no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any communication network or any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible or corrupted entries. The SABC and its agents are not liable for any costs incurred, responses received or any other consequences of user error.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The SABC or its agents will not be held responsible for any disputes arising from the competition or prize awards.
- Prizes are not transferable, and cannot be deferred or exchanged.
- Winners use prizes at own risk. The SABC and its agents shall not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (including but not limited to that arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using the prize/s.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them when entering.
- The SABC and its agents reserve the right to cancel, modify or amend the competition at any time, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of their control.
- This competition is open to home cooks only.
The following are NOT permitted to enter:
- Restaurants
- Takeaway outlets
- Pubs or taverns
- Supermarket delis
- Catering businesses
- Any individual entering on behalf of a commercial food business
Entries must be prepared in a private home kitchen for personal, non-commercial purposes.
The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any entrant found to be operating from or affiliated with a commercial food establishment, or whose entry is deemed to be professionally or commercially prepared.
