Lotus FM Breakfast Express raises over R750k for Durban school

In the spirit of advocating Tata Madiba’s vision, Lotus FM’s award winning Breakfast Express show raised over R750 000 for Montarena Secondary School in Chatsworth, undoubtedly changing the lives of the learners for years to come.

As part of the station’s Mandela Month CSI initiative, the Breakfast Express partnered with the South African Hindu Maha Sabha and lend a helping hand at the school which was in desperate need of repair and refurbishing. 

A successful live broadcast was held at the school premises last Wednesday where sponsors, ex-students and well wishers dug deep into their pockets and selflessly pledged their assistance to uplift the plight of the learners at the school.

The Best Breakfast Show Host on PBS radio, O’Neil Nair’s impassioned appeal during the live broadcast saw drivers turn around while driving to work, and converging at the school, to pledge their support. 

School principal, Mr PG Govender expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Lotus FM and all sponsors for their magnanimous donations.

Station Manager Alvin Pillay reiterated the station and the SABC’s commitment to serving the community and spreading some Madiba magic.
