Cultural Cuisine & Attire Virtual Pride Competition
Lotus FM will be giving away R50 000.00 in prize money in the Heritage Month Cultural Cuisine & Attire Virtual Pride Competition.
To stand a chance of winning your share of R50 000 in prize money, simply follow the step below:
Step 1: Stay locked onto Lotus FM
Step 2: Email your recipe of a culturally flavoured dish and an image of yourself dressed in cultural attired to marketing@lotusfm.co.za
Entries open: 01/09/2020 and close on the 15/09/2020
Step 3: A panel of judges will shortlist 10 finalists from the entries received. All finalists will be contacted
by the station on the 17th of September 2020. Each finalist will be required to record and submit a video
clip with the maximum duration of 2 minutes which captures snippets of the following:
- Brief introduction of themselves
- Dish that they will be preparing and ingredients required
- Showcasing the ingredients
- Preparation of the dish whilst dressed in cultural attire
- Plating and serving of the final product
Each finalist will be required to submit their video clip via WhatsApp to 060 975 0070 by no later than
12pm on Monday the 21st of September 2020.
Step 4: All video clips will be uploaded to Lotus FM’s social media platforms by the Digital Content Specialist at Lotus FM.
Step 5: Finalists will be allocated to respective shows on the lineup. . The shows will adopt finalists by covering the time line of their journey in the competition which includes their choice of dish, preparation, cultural attire and background of the finalist. The on-air teams will encourage listeners to vote for their favourite dish and finalist.
Step 6: Lotus FM listeners will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite finalist. Each finalist will be allocated a sms key word which listeners may use when voting commences. Listeners may sms keywords dish1, dish2, dish3, dish4, dish5, dish6, dish7, dish8, dish9 or dish10 to sms short code 33192.
The sms voting opens on the 22nd of September 2020 and closes on the 28th of September 2020. The top 5 finalist will be identified by the highest number of sms votes received. The top 5 finalists will each win R10 000 in prize money.
Winners will be announced on the 30th of September 2020 on Lotus FM.

Competition Terms and Conditions:
- This competition is open to everyone except directors, members, partners, employees, agents and consultants of the SABC and/ or the competition promoters, and/ or their spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, sisters, business partners or associates.
- No person may enter the same or any other competition hosted partly or in whole by Lotus FM within 90 days of winning a competition hosted or in whole by LotusFM
- The competition entries will open on the 01/09/2020 and close on the 15/09/2020. Entries received after this date/time will not be considered.
- Any person who wishes to enter the competition may submit as many entries as they wish for this particular competition.
- Entrants under the age of 18 must obtain permission from parents or guardians before entering
- SMS’s are charged at a premium rate of R1.50 per sms. . Free minutes and sms bundles do not apply.
- Winners will only be contacted by LotusFM/SABC.
- The SABC/ Lotus FM accept no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any communication network or any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible or corrupt entries. The SABC will not be liable for any costs incurred, responses received or any other consequences of user error.
- Winners’ names will be announced on the 30th of September 2020.
- Prizes not collected/ or claimed within 90 days will be forfeited and disposed of in the discretion of the SABC and/or the competition promoter.Winner’s based in Kwa Zulu Natal need to make arrangements to have their prizes collected from SABC KZN Offices located at 100 KE Masinga Road, Durban.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The SABC will not be held responsible for any disputes arising from the competition or prize awards.
- In order to claim this prize the winner must adhere to the rules of a specific campaign.
- Winners may be required to appear on SABC Television or Radio, or on any other medium as shall be determined by the specific campaign.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them when entering.
- Winners’ names will be announced on the date and on the medium as will be determined by the specific campaign.
- Prizes are not transferable.
- The SABC reserves the right to cancel, modify or amend the competition at any time, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
- Entrants should be South African citizens with valid identification
- In order to claim the prize the winner must provide and complete all the relevant documentation.
- Winners use prizes at own risk. The SABC shall not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (including but not limited to that arising from any person's negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using the prize/s.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them when entering.
Rules:
- A person may enter as many times as they wish to increase their chances in the competition.
- SMS’s are charged at R1.50, free minutes and sms bundles do not apply.
- All entrants need to ensure that a cultural recipe and an image of them dressed in cultural attire are emailed to marketing@lotusfm.co.za within the stipulated time frame.
- All finalists are required to submit a video clip with the maximum duration of 2 minutes via WhatsApp to 060 975 0070 within the stipulated time frame. Failure to submit the video accordingly will result in disqualification.
- Any member of the public that intends on voting may do so via SMS which is charged at a premium rate of R1.50 per SMS, free minutes and SMS bundles do not apply. A person may submit a maximum of 3 SMS votes per day per finalist.
- All parties entering the competition understand and accept that they may be required to be on-air, in addition their images, recipes and video clips may be uploaded onto Lotus FM’s digital media platforms.
- Entries that contravene the terms and conditions or the rules of the competition will be disqualified.
- Lotus FM reserves to right to amend or cancel the competition at any point in time without compensation or prior notice.
