| BOLLYWOOD BILLBOARD REVIEW - HOUSEFULL |
| Stress relieft amidst the climate we're facing today in any part of the world with regards to recession, employment, potitical upsets and even relationships ups and downs - this wold at the outset seem difficult to get - but resepct to director Sajid Khan for providing us with the priviledge of a complete de stresser at only the cost of a movie ticket - and that's not expensive considering the high amounts we splurge out for medication every month. |

Important to note is that tis is a non thinkers film - it is comlete whimisical behaviour from start to finish, merely putting together a whole lot of tired and tested comical gags to a nearly invisivle script, add some international splendour, hire an outstanding te cast - and you've got on your hands, a prescription for exactly what the doctors ordered for your mental rehabilitation. Askshay Kumar plays the prtagonist Aarav, a forever out of his luck dud whose bad fate is suc an ill omen that people actually lose the jackpot at the casino if he had to stand next to them. But all of this bad luck changes when he stumbles across a stunning dame while on honeymoon in Italy, and falls in love with her. Yeah well as strange as tat sounds, that's how whack this film gets - and for Aarav to get some good luck into is life es gotta deal wit every awkward situation arising from the mistaken identities and the age old comedy of errors wich conveninetly happen in the second half when Aarav's future brother-in-law decides to drop by unexpectedly The hilartiy has been superbly written into the screenplay with stacks of neverending scenes of laughter arising from the accidental situations involving all of these bufoonish central characters. Just to state an example of the state of bufoonism exisitng in tis film - there's an indian italian hotel owner named aakhri pasta - whose favourite line is 'just joking'-, a bird names prada whic gets sucked by a vacumm cleaner, there's a guji father whow aged mother whacks im because he disregards his daugther,a hindi speaking queen of England and how can we forget the two sons in law - bot of who appear to be gay. To sum it all up - Sajid Khan has put the best interst of is audience first - and by knowing how to treat his audience to a sufficient entertainer, whcih this movie certainly is - he has beniftted totally in raising the commercial money makeing aspects of the film. He is intellectual in a sense that he has minimised emphasis on a script and instead gone and combining everything we've seen over the year's in Bollywood, and presenting it in an audience friendly fashion wich is bound to win oever your smiles, and eventually your money to watch the movie more than just once. His perks are te otstepping songs by Shankar Ehsan Loy and hotpots in Macau, Italy and London used to seduce visually but above everything is the casting of extremely talented actors all of whom fit in so perfectly inot the screenplay to make the comedy work according to plan. Asksay Kumar leads the pack with a refined comedy act hereby proving his versatility once more, he is matched by Riteish's efforts to entertain with his bravery in some very daringly awkward situations. Boman Irani just ups his game as te overly suspicious father and ter's no doubt Boman being one of the finest entertainers in Bollywood especially with his flexibility to suit the character. Deepkia Padukone and Lara Dutta are sexy babes whose costumes tend to have more focus in the film than their performance but they do act well especially in their interactions with their male counterparts. Giah Khan has some decent parts, and Arjun Rampal pulled off a class act as the over bearing elder brother. Arjun definitely is upping his game. BOLLYWOOD BILLBOARD VERDICT ousefull is sure to bring the cinema house down, its definitely bringing in the crowds right now becaue of the long starving for a good entertainer after the IPL and all of that and this film gives exactly what is required. It's a pity, the script wasn't better developed and that the climax wasn't treated with a bit more slickness - but we've already regarded this as a slapstick entertainer with satisfactory results. So don;t sit in the ouse and be a fool - go watch housefull and set your world of worries free. BOLLYWOOD BILLBOARD SCORE 7/10 |
